Our registered Bridging BrightStart School will be offering a Pre-Reception level extension from 2015, in fact we are already taught a subgroup at that level in 2014 with great success in getting them into grade R at leading schools like Camps Bay Prep. We are currently in the process of implementing plans to enlarge our learning and storage space in a phased approached as we raise funds, but irrespective we have a large area to work in and are managing very well with our new inner 'mobile' classroom. From an outside play environment, in addition to our own jungle gym and sandpit area, we also utilize the green garden space next to the courts at our entrance for bike riding and obstacle courses, as well as the tennis/practice courts for ball skills and games. Our terms largely follow the independent schools' 4 term calendar, full week Mondays to Fridays from 2015.

After 16 years of passionately offering parental involvement classes and preschool preparedness in a uniquely designed progressive, additive format, I have personally developed an eclectic program drawing on the best teaching practices (from both Montessori and Mainstream) that is superior to the curriculum requirements of the department. Our weekly program incorporates dimensions such as Science and Geography in addition to phonic awareness and numeracy along with the other standard requirements of the department, in order to let them embrace formal learning with confidence.

Over more than a decade, the evidence is in hundreds of children in both private and government schooling flourishing due to the solid foundations our program has given them. At the end of 2012 we successfully launched our own registered school extension for 2,5 years and older and now we are proudly extending to include our Pre-Reception level as that's the most natural extension of what we are offering right now. As many of the children have joined our program from baby or toddler stage with their parents or a loving caregiver before going onto preschool preparedness (something we highly advocate you do), they come into a familiar environment when they are ready for school. We have kept our group small to provide hands on guidance and attention with a superior adult to child ratio and well qualified staff. Although licensed to take 24 children, the total group will be 19 during the course of the year, and regrouped according to age for the mainstream part of their activities and school day. The total number in our school that we are licensed for will only be relooked once another floor level is built, for which major fundraising will be required and can only be done over long holidays (e.g. mid year or next year-end).

As principal and teacher at Kidz Discovery Bridging BrightStart School it's my passion to send those little ones onto "Big School" for grade R and beyond with a heart full of confidence and a fearless joy to embrace challenges with their own toolkit of "I can".

We recently celebrated our 16th birthday in October last year with our successful Fun Family Fun(d)raiser Day to help raise funds for increasing our learning and storage space and for the cover of the sandpit in phase 1 of our plans.

Thanks to the success of this event and with the help of ex-parent and wonderful architect, Stefan Antoni and Cape Island Construction we have already completed phase 1. This event will become an annual feature inviting all past,present & future families to join us.
